Even Busier Weekend

We had a crazy busy exciting weekend. We had a houseful this past weekend to celebrate Jeremy's ordination. I was truly amazed that we all made it to church on time...I was even there BEFORE 8 AM to set up the chairs for Primary. When it was announced in Sacrament meeting....I just lost it......it was like the past 19 years flashed before my eyes....how did he grow so fast? Fortunately, the rest of the weekend was tear free. We took some of these photos after church and they were begging to be scrapped so I did this quick page last night. It really isn't as crooked as it looks here...guess I photographed it a bit wierd.
His mission papers were entered into the computer yesterday so I guess now the "wait" begins.........sigh

Busy Week

It's been a busy week at our house. Spring break so the boys were out of school. The big news is that Jeremy's mission papers are hopefully on their way to Salt Lake by now so in a matter of weeks he will have his call and will know where in the world he is going. This weekend he is being made an elder so we have a bunch of family visiting....makes for a wild and crazy weekend. But so fun and so worth it. We are so proud of him. Thanks to Manny at work, I was able to get today off so I could really enjoy my family.
Jason has been a joy to be with this week. He has been totally helpful and generally a wonderful guy to have around...you ROCK dude! I am so grateful to call you my son!
I haven't scrapped at all this week so I have nothing new to post. Maybe tomorrow after our family heads out of here I will have some time.

I am such a "Moment" Scrapper

I am such a "Moment" scrapper. Sure I scrap celebrations, holidays, and such but it's the little everyday moments that I love to scrap about. I want my posterity to know about the "small stuff" in my life, not just that we went to Hawaii on vacation or we had a great birthday party. I want them to understand that is what makes up your life....a moment here a moment there...the everyday little things. I love celebrating the little things in life.
Here's a quick layout I did of my dh yesterday. He is such a Rock in my life. He supports me and loves me dearly, for that I am grateful. He may detest having his picture taken but he puts up with my passion for scrapping and photography. Thanks honey for letting me celebrate the "Face I love".

A Not So Ordinary Easter Photo

Most people have wonderful photos of their children hunting Easter eggs to scrap or children all dressed in their Easter best...but once you have teens and young adults who hate to have their photos taken those photos are much harder to get so what is a scrapper to do if she wants to document a family gathering? You work with what you get and often times end up with some outrageously silly fun pictures. Even though I did manage to get the obligatory smiling posed-for-the-camera shots the one that screamed to be scrapped immediately was this one.

This year we got together with my niece and her boyfriend for the second year in a row. We had a blast. Mindy and Luke are med students so we don't get to see them too often but we always have fun when we get together. This year was no exception.....my adorable dh really doesn't like having his photo taken ( he can be as bad as the a forementioned teens and young adults) so he decides to start attacking Mindy and Luke with the "Dreaded Killer Chocolate Bunny"....of course then we had to have a "posed" photo of the D.K.C.B. attacking. Mindy and Luke did a great job of hamming it up for the camera don't you think? It made for a very fun and memorable afternoon.

Happy Easter

My dinner is in the oven....and I have a few minutes to myself...so I thought I would add something quick here. Jason started Independent Study (home school) this past week....so far he is showing some great responsibility....I am cautiously optimistic. I did this layout of him yesterday...I so want him to know that he has unlimited potential. I want him to know that I think he is a wonderful young man. Unfortunately he and I are so much alike we butt heads fairly regularily so I am afraid he often thinks I do nothing more than argue with him. Being a teenager is so hard..being a Mom to a teenager is hard too. I hope he knows just how awesome he is and how much he means to me.

I saw this cool "Pink Paisley" paper at my LSS and decided it was just what I needed to do a cool layout of Jase. Thanks Jason for putting up with your "scrappy" Mom

More than the Creative Process

Here is another layout I finished from the Keith Urban concert. This whole "freestyle" thing is kinda fun.
Scrapping is so much more to me than putting photos and paper together. It’s not just the creative process.....it is the journey you take while you are in the midst of the layout that causes you to think deeper. Lyrics and music have always moved me and often times I will create a layout from something that I heard in a song. I love the fact that you can take something as simple as paper, photos and words and put them all together in a lasting memory. I had a friend say to me the other day that my scrapbooks were so much better than a regular journal. Because of the feelings I was conveying. I was so touched. I guess it's because you can cover so much more with the art, the photo and your words that you can reach deeper into your soul and your emotions.....I so love this "art" we call scrapbooking!

Let's try again

After watching a u-Tube tutorial on blogging this should be easy enough for me to post a picture...let's see what happens....wish me luck...hehehe If this works these layouts are from the Keith Urban concert I attended last week. Ok so maybe I am not as blog challenged as I thought!

A Work in Progress

My younger son and I decided to play around with my blog this morning......so far I have changed colors, fonts, etc and I still haven't gotten it the way I want it...still no layouts in the post .....guess this truly is a work in progress. The good news is at least my son and I are having fun trying to figure things out.

I also have to thank my friend Rachel....she is the first person to post on my blog! Thanks girlie!

My First Attempt

I love reading other peoples blogs. I always get such inspiration from them. I have finally decided to take the plunge and start one of my own....who knows maybe I will inspire someone else.I am a very clean cut, linear scrapper though I do like to try other things I have never tried "Freestyle" it just wasn't my cup of tea. After attending an AMAZING Keith Urban concert and taking some fun pictures I decided I would try a little "freestyle" scrapping.....while I wouldn't do it on a regular basis......it was very fun and totally got me to think outside of my box. So here are my first attempts at blogging and freestyle scrapping! Ok so you can't see the layouts yet....need to figure that part out....it's a learning experience after all ;-)
